Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has said that he did not see elections taking place in the next four months.

A statement came from an interview of Pervez Elahi with a private channel in which he said,” Elections cannot take place before four months; the federal and provincial governments need time to work and the elections may be delayed even after October next year.”

PML-Q leader had reiterated that he fully backs the PTI chief’s decisions.

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry has also said that Khan has asked lawmakers to go back to their constituencies and get ready for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

CM Elahi’s statement comes following Khan’s willingness to halt the dissolution of the Punjab and KP assemblies if the coalition government consents to carry out elections by the end of March next year.

“If they are ready for elections by the end of March, then we won’t disband the assemblies. Otherwise, we desire to conduct polls by dissolving the KP and Punjab assemblies,” Khan said in an interview with a private news channel.

He continued that his party might disagree on a date after March and assemblies will be disbanded this month [December] if the government opposes.
