President Alvi addresses the faculty of FUUAST

President Dr Arif Alvi chaired a meeting on Monday with the faculty of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST), in Karachi. Vice-Chancellor FUUAST, Dr Athar Ata, and faculty heads also attended the meeting.

President Dr Arif Alvi has encouraged academia to perform research and market surveys to evaluate the market value and need for graduates of different faculties, especially in the subjects associated with Arts and Literature.

Addressing the faculty of the FUUAST, President Alvi conveyed that higher educational institutions must encourage the importance of peace, welfare, and inclusivity through studies in the field of Arts and Literature.

He suggested the faculty to make FUUAST a role model institution for the advancement of Arts and Literature in the country.

A special focus should be on enabling the graduates to employ their talents in attaining a reputable livelihood for themselves.

Accentuating the importance of inclusive education for differently-abled students, the President told that visually and physically impaired students should be enrolled in higher educational institutions with regular students.

The faculty should be trained for enabling them to cater to special educational requirements. He added, “the purpose of special education should not only be providing skills and education to differently-abled students but they are empowered to actively participate in the socio-economic development of the country”.

While referring to the HEC‘s Partnership-Research model, the President emphasized the necessity for enriching collaborations and developing linkages between academia and the private sector.

He said that the practical exposure of students in various sectors would help them comprehend the market requirements of their respective fields.

He further emphasized that HEC in collaboration with Coursera had provided access to 4000 free courses for students and faculty in various fields and encouraged them to keep on enhancing their skills by taking up this valuable online source of learning.

Earlier, VC FUUAST briefed President Alvi about the performance of the University and thanked him for his continuous guidance and support. The President directed the VC FUUAST to work towards the regularization of the faculty on a priority basis.
