News circled on the internet that Twitter has suspended the accounts of journalists from CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, and others.

Tesla owner, Elon Musk took the decision of suspending the Twitter accounts of journalists because of doxxing. Doxxing is a term that is used to describe the posting of private information about an individual over the internet.

Elon Musk claimed that his live location was revealed and reported by several journalists over the internet due to which a ‘crazy stalker’ tried to stalk his daughter.

However, Twitter’s decision of suspending accounts did not make people happy. Even European Union threatened Elon Musk with putting sanctions on the company.

EU Commissioner Vera Jourova said that Twitter will face sanctions under the Digital Services Act for the freedom of media and fundamental rights.

United Nations also supported EU’s stance and UN Secretary Melissa Flemings added, “media freedom is not a toy. A free press is the cornerstone of democratic societies and a key tool in the fight against harmful disinformation.”

Elon Musk has not commented on anything regarding EU and UN statements.
