Floods hit Pakistan provinces Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2022 damaged thousands of people’s properties, killed over a thousand people, and injured more than 13000 people.

The floods also killed and damaged livestock which was the basic earning of many families.

Pakistan is still struggling to manage the devastating effects of floods. The United Nations suggested that Pakistan needs $16 billion to deal with the damages caused by the floods.

Next Week, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the UN secretary, Antonio Guterres will hold a conference in Geneva to discuss Pakistan’s journey and struggle against the floods.

Many high-level representatives from dozens of countries will attend the conference including heads of state.

Pakistan’s UN envoy in Geneva, Khalil Hashmi said, “This is a pivotal moment for the global communities to stand with the people of Pakistan.”

UN development program representative, Knut Otsby said, “What is unique about this conference is that it is both mobilizing support for the immediate response to the disaster… but it also comes at a time where the world is realizing that this is a global issue.”

However, the flood affectee are living in a dire situation with not a lot of support. But this conference seems to highlight the issue and work on the solutions.
