Islamabad Court Directs Police to Present Fawad

Share the latest news updates

Fawad Chaudhry, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was ordered to appear in court in Islamabad on Saturday after the police appealed the judgement of a session and district court to refuse his physical remand.

Earlier, the court had denied the police’s request for an extension of Fawad’s physical detention and instead had placed him in Adiala Jail for a 14-day judicial remand.

The chief election commissioner (CEC) and other members of the Election Commission of Pakistan were “threatened” by Fawad, who was accused of sedition (ECP).

The police appealed the verdict before the sessions judge and asked that Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja’s ruling be set aside and that Fawad be given further time in physical detention.
