King Charles made his first public appearance since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said that their children, Archie and Lilibet, would be called Prince and Princess, on Thursday.

Scientists from Surrey who study avian flu took King Charles on a tour of the headquarters of the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in Weybridge during a visit.

In his first public speech, King Charles said, “I have a lot of respect for what you do and what you’re able to do in spite of all the big problems. I know that many people have been working so late for many days.”

He went on, “So I can only say that you are very brave and that we are very lucky to have you fighting for our safety and our future.”

King Charles’s speech comes after Meghan and Harry said that their children, Archie and Lilibet, would be given new names.

They said, “Since their grandfather became Monarch, the children’s titles have been their birthright. This problem has been solved for a while, according to Buckingham Palace.”
