Police Arrested Ex-Sindh Governor, PTI Leader Imran Ismail

KARACHI: Police has arrested Imran Ismail, ex-Sindh governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader on Friday afternoon. Police took him in custody from Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VIII.

After his arrest, the Police handed Imran Ismail over to the East Investigation officers.

Tariq Elahi Mastoi, SP Investigation East, reported that Ismail has been detained as FIR was filed at Tipu Sultan police station under the provisions of Anti-terrorism Act (ATA). The FIR mentioned his involvement in enticing people against the state institutions and other relevant sections.

PTI workers protested on May 9 against the arrest of Imran Khan. The supporters allegedly followed orders from PTI leaders. Consequently, resorted to throwing petrol bombs. They allegedly set fire to the police prison van, Rangers checkpoint, and People’s Bus Service on Amber Tower Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The SP stated that PTI workers smashed many vehicles’ windows. Police has registered a case against 23 PTI leaders and workers. The case also has been filed against 800 to 1000 unidentified individuals, at the Tipu Sultan police station. The allegations include arson, vandalism, assault, interfering with official work, and acts of terrorism.

PTI Minority wing Leader Resigned

Another leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party quit, saying, “I am leaving PTI with a heavy heart.” Jay Prakash, who was a member of the National Assembly from 2018 to January 2023 and president of the PTI’s minority wing, made the news at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club.

Jay Prakash said at the news conference that PTI has been a well-organized party that has worked hard to fight corruption in the country. He praised the party’s work to get away from corruption and try to make Pakistan’s economy better.

Jay Prakash talked about an event that happened on May 9 and asked that it was wrong and Police should look into it. He said that he was sad and that he had decided to leave PTI. He also said that he would keep working to protect the rights of minorities.
