Nasir, who ran as an independent candidate in the 2018 general elections in Karachi, has been critical of the recent crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and legal proceedings involving individuals linked to riots. His work addressing sectarian violence earned him recognition on Foreign Policy Magazine’s list of inspirational Pakistanis in 2013.

Earlier this month, unidentified individuals took into custody journalists Imran Riaz Khan, Aftab Iqbal, and Sami Ibrahim, who support PTI. Although Ibrahim and Iqbal are released, but there is still no information about Imran Riaz Khan.
