Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, on Thursday, extended a formal invitation to Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to visit Karachi. This invitation follows a recent meeting between Tessori and the Chinese ambassador, where Tessori emphasized Karachi’s significance as Pakistan’s economic hub.

During his discussion with the Chinese envoy, Tessori highlighted the positive feedback received on Pakistan’s IT program and other initiatives. He assured the ambassador of full support for Chinese investments in Karachi. “The Chinese ambassador praised our efforts, including our IT program,” Tessori noted. “Given Karachi’s pivotal role as the country’s economic center, I would like to extend a formal invitation to the Chinese Premier to visit.”

The Chinese envoy reciprocated with warm sentiments, reflecting on the deep-rooted connection between China and Pakistan. He expressed hope that the enduring friendship between the two nations remains exemplary. “China and Pakistan share a profound bond,” he said. “I hope this friendship continues to be a model for others.”

The envoy also praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a symbol of the steadfast relationship between the two countries. The CPEC, a major infrastructure project, continues to serve as a cornerstone of China-Pakistan cooperation.

Tessori Criticizes Political Hurdles to Economic Progress

In a separate statement, Governor Tessori addressed the current political climate in Pakistan, describing it as a significant obstacle to resolving the country’s economic challenges. He pointed out that despite the prime minister’s dedicated efforts, the economic situation remains grim. “Even with relentless efforts, the desired outcomes are elusive,” Tessori said. “While Pakistan strives to overcome economic difficulties, incidents like the recent attacks in Balochistan complicate the situation.”

Tessori’s comments underscore his concern that political instability is impeding economic recovery and development in the country.

Meeting with Punjab Governor Highlights Federal Role in Provincial Development

In another development, Tessori met with Punjab Governor Saleem Haider Khan to discuss the federal government’s role in advancing provincial progress. The meeting focused on the federal government’s contributions to the development and prosperity of the provinces. Tessori commended the federal government for its efforts in enhancing industrial areas and fostering regional development.

“The federal government’s role in supporting provincial development is praiseworthy,” Tessori remarked. He acknowledged the importance of federal funding in facilitating modern development projects.

In response, Punjab Governor Saleem Haider Khan emphasized the ongoing development initiatives funded by the federal government. He highlighted the public welfare measures and the positive impact of governor-led initiatives. “Modern development projects are progressing with federal support,” Khan noted. “The governor’s initiatives for public welfare are commendable.”

This exchange reflects ongoing cooperation between federal and provincial authorities in Pakistan, aiming to address economic challenges and drive development across the country.
