K-Electric’s CEO, Muns Alvi, has requested assistance from the Sindh Assembly’s Energy Committee to address electricity theft and outstanding dues. During a special briefing, he discussed various issues, including electricity duty and the provincial government’s liabilities. Committee members acknowledged K-Electric’s better performance compared to other distribution companies.
Alvi sought the committee’s help in resolving the issues related to electricity duty and outstanding payments. The committee praised K-Electric’s progress in providing electricity to rural areas and discussed the uniform tariff policy and municipal tax collection.

The CEO highlighted that federal laws ensure equal rates for all consumers in Pakistan. He agreed with the committee on the need for further meetings to tackle electricity theft and ensure timely bill payments. Alvi requested evidence for immediate disciplinary action against staff involved in electricity theft and offered a detailed briefing on challenges in bill recovery.
They also agreed to exchange information on local losses to improve bill payment and reduce electricity theft. Muns Alvi assured committee members that there would be no late-night load shedding, noting that 70% of the network is free from load shedding, while 30% faces issues. K-Electric emphasized its request for cooperation to help reduce or eliminate load shedding.
