The Sindh High Court granted bail to a female driver arrested in connection with a fatal road accident on Karsaz Road. The court required surety bonds worth Rs 1 million. The decision came during a hearing on Monday, where the need for further inquiry was stressed.

On August 19, a tragic accident occurred near the Pakistan Maritime Museum in Karachi. A luxury vehicle, driven by the suspect, crashed into multiple vehicles. This accident resulted in the deaths of 26-year-old Aamna Arif and her 60-year-old father, Imran Arif. The incident shocked the community and raised serious concerns about road safety.

Law enforcement officials reported that the driver sustained an injury to her head during the collision. She underwent a CT scan at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for further evaluation. Initially, the driver was granted bail in the murder case after the victims’ family decided to pardon her. However, a new complication arose when tests revealed the presence of Methamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth, in her blood and urine samples.

In its detailed verdict, the Sindh High Court bench addressed the contradictions in the chemical reports. The blood sample taken from the suspect showed no signs of narcotics or psychoactive substances. However, the urine sample tested positive for Methamphetamine. This discrepancy prompted the court to call for further inquiry into the matter. The bench stated, “Even otherwise a glance at the chemical report reveals that the applicant’s blood sample found no narcotic, sedative, psychoactive toxic or any other foreign compound/element in the given sample.”

The court acknowledged the suspect’s family situation as well. It noted that she is a mother of three school-going children, including a young daughter who needs her support. The court emphasized that the suspect had already spent six weeks in jail, which added to the urgency of granting her bail.
