DUBAI: Pakistan batter Babar Azam slipped one place in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings released on Wednesday, while wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan moved up one spot.
Babar faced a challenging home series against Bangladesh last month. In four innings, he managed only 64 runs. Consequently, he fell out of the top ten and dropped to the 12th position, holding 712 rating points.
On the other hand, Rizwan rose to the seventh position, accumulating 720 rating points. This achievement makes him the highest-ranked Pakistani batter in the ICC rankings.

Indian players enjoyed notable advancements in the rankings after their impressive clean sweep over Bangladesh in the home Test series. Virat Kohli made a significant leap, climbing six places to sixth with 724 rating points. He contributed scores of 47 and 29 not out in the famous Kanpur Test victory.
Additionally, young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved his career-best ranking, moving up two places to third. He scored quick half-centuries in both innings of the Kanpur Test and earned the Player of the Match award.
On the bowling front, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah edged out teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to claim the top spot in the ICC rankings. Bumrah holds a narrow one-point lead over Ashwin after taking 11 wickets during the series against Bangladesh. Notably, Ashwin, who ranks second, was named Player of the Series, boasting the same number of wickets and scoring a century in the first Test.
These developments highlight the competitive nature of international cricket and the constant shifts in player rankings.
