Meta’s messaging platform WhatsApp is preparing to roll out new features similar to Instagram Stories, allowing users to tag or mention others in their Status. According to tech website Gagadget, this upcoming feature will enable users to privately mention and tag others in their Status updates.

Unlike Instagram, where anyone can see who is mentioned in Stories, WhatsApp will keep these mentions private. Only the tagged users will be notified, and they will have the option to reshare the Status if they choose. However, WhatsApp will limit users to tagging a maximum of five people in a single Status.

In addition to mentions, WhatsApp is working on introducing likes to Status updates, similar to Instagram’s heart button. These likes will remain private, visible only to the Status creator.

The messaging platform has also confirmed that more features for the Status and Updates tabs are in development and will be released in the coming months. This aligns with WhatsApp’s recent trend of enhancing user engagement through more interactive and personalized tools.

Recently, WhatsApp introduced a feature allowing users to change the background or add filters during video calls. This update aims to make video calls more fun and expressive, allowing users to customize their backgrounds and create a more polished look. The filters and backgrounds add a playful touch, helping users feel more comfortable and private during video conversations.

With these updates, WhatsApp continues to enhance its platform, making interactions more dynamic and engaging while maintaining privacy.
