President Asif Ali Zardari fractured his foot while deboarding an airplane at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday night. The President House confirmed the injury in a statement on Thursday.

Following the fall, medical personnel took Zardari directly to the hospital. Doctors conducted a thorough check-up and placed his foot in a cast. According to the statement, Zardari will need to wear the cast for four weeks and is advised to rest fully during this period.

Health Challenges

At 69, President Zardari has faced various health issues in recent years. His history of medical complications includes surgeries, infections, and other ailments. In March 2023, he underwent eye surgery in the United Arab Emirates.

Previous Health Incidents

In 2022, Zardari spent a week in Karachi’s Dr. Ziauddin Hospital for a chest infection. Amid public concerns, his physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, assured people on social media that the president was in good health. Later in July 2022, Zardari contracted COVID-19, though his son, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, stated he only showed mild symptoms.

In 2021, frequent travel led to “exertion and exhaustion,” causing another hospital visit in Karachi.

Recovery and Rest

Now recovering at home, President Zardari is expected to follow doctors’ advice for complete rest. His medical team will likely monitor his progress over the next four weeks.
