CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle has secured a spot on Oprah Winfrey’s highly anticipated “Favorite Things” list for 2024. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, made the list with a thoughtful gift to Winfrey, highlighting their warm friendship and shared Montecito neighborhood.

Winfrey Showcases Tatcha’s Hinoki Body Care Set

Oprah’s annual “Favorite Things” gift guide, a popular tradition dating back to her talk show days, was released on Nov. 1. Featured on this year’s list is a luxurious body care set from Tatcha’s Hinoki line, which Meghan gifted to Oprah. Oprah praised the set, describing it as “a favorite Favorite Thing — with the scent of a forest sent to me by my neighbor Meghan.”

The Tatcha set includes body wash, body oil, and body milk, all infused with Tatcha’s Forest Awakening Essential Oil blend. The blend, which includes cedar, hiba, and hinoki oils, is noted for its stress-relieving and mood-lifting properties.

A Friendship Rooted in Mutual Support

Markle and Winfrey share more than just proximity in Montecito; they have a history of friendship and mutual support. Oprah attended Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, introduced by mutual friend Gayle King. Following the couple’s move to California in 2020, Winfrey expressed her support for their personal choices, saying, “Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them. I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”

Memorable Collaborations and Public Appearances

The friendship deepened with significant collaborations. In 2021, Meghan and Harry sat down with Oprah for a revealing interview, Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, marking their first major interview post-royal life. That same year, Harry and Winfrey collaborated on The Me You Can’t See, an Apple TV+ series on mental health aimed at breaking the stigma around mental health conversations. Winfrey shared her hope that the series would “help people know they’re not alone and encourage open dialogue.”

In recent months, Meghan, Harry, and Winfrey have continued to support each other’s ventures. They attended the grand opening of Godmothers Bookstore in Montecito in September. In October, Meghan partnered with Winfrey and Melinda French Gates on a digital wellness initiative for young girls, aligning with International Day of the Girl.

Meghan’s Heartfelt Gift-Giving Reputation

This isn’t the first time Oprah has praised Meghan’s gift-giving abilities. In 2021, Oprah publicly thanked Meghan on Instagram for sending her samples from Clevr Blends, a vegan latte company Meghan invested in. Oprah warmly referred to Meghan as “my neighbor M” and remarked on her “wonderful, warm, giving, loving heart.”

Oprah’s Take on the Sussexes’ Royal Choices

Throughout the Sussexes’ journey, Winfrey has remained a supportive figure. Asked about their attendance at King Charles’ coronation in May 2023, she suggested they should “do what they feel is best for them and their family,” emphasizing the importance of personal choice.

With her spot on Oprah’s “Favorite Things” list, Meghan continues to demonstrate her influence and cherished friendship with Winfrey.
