Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the 29th Climate Action Summit (COP-29) in Baku today. He engaged in talks with world leaders. The discussions focused on climate action and environmental concerns. Leaders also explored regional cooperation and sustainable solutions.

Shehbaz Sharif held a conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They focused on cooperation to tackle climate change and discussed areas of mutual interest. Both leaders emphasized the importance of joint efforts in addressing environmental challenges and supporting sustainable development.

Environmental Issues

The Prime Minister also met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Emine Erdogan. Together, they discussed ways to raise awareness about environmental pollution and climate change. Both sides highlighted the need for global cooperation to combat climate issues and expressed mutual interest in enhancing ties between Turkey and Pakistan.

During his meetings with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Shehbaz Sharif addressed issues related to glacier conservation and water resources in Central Asia and Pakistan. They shared perspectives on improving communication links between Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, with a focus on environmental sustainability.

Climate Threats

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held discussions with Nepalese President Ramchandra Paudel and Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s Interim Government. They examined the pressing climate challenges in South Asia, including rising temperatures, sea-level threats, and the need for forest conservation. The leaders also explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
