Tremors were felt, on Wednesday, in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad after an earthquake struck Afghanistan. The quake shook the region, causing people to evacuate buildings and creating widespread concern.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported the magnitude as 5.3.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located 37 kilometers west-southwest of Ishkashim town in Afghanistan. The quake had a depth of 220.7 kilometers, the USGS confirmed. The tremors hit at 10:13 AM (Pakistan time), as confirmed by both the USGS and PMD.
Tremors Felt in Multiple Cities
The earthquake was felt in various cities across Pakistan, particularly in Peshawar and Islamabad. Residents in these areas reported feeling strong tremors, with some rushing out of buildings for safety.

No Casualties Reported
Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage so far. Local authorities are yet to provide any further updates. However, the earthquake caused alarm, and people in affected areas were on high alert for aftershocks.
Despite the moderate intensity, the tremors were strong enough to be felt in the capital, Islamabad, as well as in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s neighboring regions.
