Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has stated that party workers will only respond to calls from PTI founder Imran Khan, not from his wife Bushra Bibi or his sisters.

Marwat’s remarks came during an appearance on Geo News’ Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. He criticized the announcement of a protest date by Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and lawyer Faisal Chaudhry. Several PTI leaders have expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of internal consensus on the protest strategy.

The PTI leader reiterated Imran Khan’s long-held belief that dynastic politics undermines democracy. He expressed frustration over not being invited to a recent meeting in Peshawar, where discussions about the protest took place.

Organisational Challenges Highlighted

Marwat pointed to organisational issues hindering preparations for the November 24 protest in Islamabad. “If a protest strategy is not finalised within two days, it might be difficult to stage a full-scale sit-in,” he warned.

He added that while people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were expected to join the protest, the main challenge was holding ground at D-Chowk, the planned venue for the demonstration.

Bushra Bibi’s Role in Focus

Reports suggest Bushra Bibi led the recent Peshawar meeting and issued directives for the protest. However, PTI founder Imran Khan has denied these claims.

Speaking to journalists after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on November 15, party lawyer Faisal Chaudhry clarified Bushra Bibi’s role. “She conveyed the PTI founder’s message to the leaders,” he said.

Chaudhry dismissed media speculation about Bushra Bibi’s involvement in politics. “She is neither joining politics nor will she do so in the future,” he quoted Imran Khan as saying.

Dissatisfaction Within the Party

The announcement of the protest date has exposed rifts within PTI’s leadership. While some leaders see the protest as critical to maintaining momentum for the party, others are concerned about the lack of preparation and internal communication.

Marwat’s criticism reflects broader concerns about the party’s strategy. He emphasized that the PTI founder’s direct involvement is crucial for mobilizing supporters and ensuring the protest’s success.

Protest Plans Under Scrutiny

The November 24 protest, announced as a “final call” by Imran Khan, aims to challenge the government. However, party insiders warn that without a solid plan, the demonstration may fall short of its objectives.

Marwat’s remarks underscore the urgency of resolving internal disagreements and ensuring a unified strategy.
