IDEAS 2024, the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar, witnessed a remarkable showcase of innovation and collaboration as Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir visited the Karachi Expo Centre on Wednesday. The event highlighted Pakistan’s advancing defence capabilities and its growing role in the global defence sector.

Dynamic Display of Defence Technology

During his visit, Gen Asim Munir observed cutting-edge weaponry and technology exhibited by both domestic and international manufacturers. He praised the active participation of defence companies from friendly nations, emphasizing the significance of such collaboration in strengthening defence ties.

The biennial event drew exhibitors from around the world, reflecting global confidence in Pakistan’s defence industry. This year’s exhibition features 557 exhibitors, including 333 foreign and 224 local participants. For the first time, 17 nations have joined the event, showcasing innovative defence solutions and fostering partnerships.

The army chief engaged with foreign military officials and defence delegates, fostering dialogue on mutual interests and future collaborations. His interactions underscored Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its defence partnerships and enhancing technological exchange.

Launch of Shahpar-III Drone

A key highlight of IDEAS 2024 was the unveiling of the Shahpar-III, a next-generation combat unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) Pakistan.

The Shahpar-III stands out for its advanced capabilities, including:

  • Operational ceiling: 35,000 feet
  • Endurance: Over 24 hours
  • Payload: Equipped for bombs, missiles, and torpedoes

This UAV reflects Pakistan’s growing expertise in modern defence technology, marking a milestone in its journey toward self-reliance in defence production.

International Participation

The exhibition attracted over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries, reinforcing global interest in Pakistan’s defence potential. Exhibitors from 36 countries set up stalls, presenting a diverse array of technologies and solutions.
