The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has intensified efforts to arrest Bushra Bibi, the former First Lady of Pakistan. A team from NAB Rawalpindi has been dispatched to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for her arrest in connection with the £190 million case.

NAB sent its team to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after obtaining arrest warrants against Bushra Bibi. The team attempted her arrest three days ago but faced challenges. Today, another attempt is underway to ensure compliance with the court’s directives.

Sources confirmed that NAB directed its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wing to fully cooperate with the Rawalpindi team. Assistance from local police has also been sought to facilitate the operation.

Details of the Arrest Warrant

On November 22, Rawalpindi’s accountability court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Bushra Bibi. The court maintained the warrants during today’s proceedings. The warrants were issued after Bushra Bibi failed to appear in court multiple times.

The presiding judge, Nasir Javed Rana, instructed NAB to produce Bushra Bibi in court by November 26. The court also issued a show-cause notice to her guarantor for failing to ensure her appearance.

Faisal Vawda’s Statements Add to Speculation

Senator Faisal Vawda, in a recent statement, claimed that Bushra Bibi’s arrest is imminent. He also suggested that the government is considering banning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Vawda accused certain elements within PTI of orchestrating the events of May 9. He remarked, “Planning such chaos was the work of vultures. Agreeing to hold the rally in Sangjani could have preserved dignity.”

He further stated, “I am trying and will continue to try to save PTI’s founder. However, some decisions, like the insistence on going to D-Chowk, backfired.”

The £190 Million Reference

The case against Bushra Bibi relates to the alleged misappropriation of £190 million, a significant corruption case. NAB claims she played a central role in the matter, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrants.

The court directed NAB to ensure Bushra Bibi’s presence during the next hearing. The case has garnered significant attention due to its implications for PTI and its leadership.

Efforts to Ensure Accountability

NAB’s proactive measures reflect its determination to enforce accountability. The deployment of a team to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underscores the seriousness of the matter.

NAB officials stated that they are committed to executing the court’s orders. The use of local police highlights their collaborative approach to ensuring the arrest.

Growing Tensions in PTI

This development comes amid growing challenges for PTI. Faisal Vawda’s statements about a potential ban on the party have added to the uncertainty surrounding its future.

Bushra Bibi’s arrest, if executed, could have significant political and legal consequences for PTI’s leadership.
