Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have intensified, killing at least 16 Palestinians in central Gaza. This surge in attacks highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave, where vulnerable civilians bear the brunt of escalating violence.

Families Devastated in Deir el-Balah

In Deir el-Balah, a nighttime airstrike on a camp for displaced people killed five members of a single family, including children, as they slept. Eyewitness Mahmoud Fayad described the chaos: “We woke up to a loud explosion and ran to find many civilians dead—a man, his wife, and their children.” Dozens were injured, further straining already overwhelmed medical facilities.

News reporters emphasized the vulnerability of displaced individuals in makeshift shelters, adding that such attacks have become a grim reality for many families in Gaza.

Strike on al-Bureij Camp

Later the same day, another airstrike targeted a residential building in al-Bureij camp, killing 11 people. The attack flattened the structure without prior warning, leaving no chance for residents to escape. Furthermore, reporters updated about Abu Azzoum reportedly seeing shredded bodies brought to al-Aqsa Hospital in bags typically used for flour due to a lack of coffins.

Rising Death Toll

Since October last year, more than 44,708 Palestinians have died, with over 106,050 injured, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Recent drone attacks on residential areas near Gaza City further added to the casualties.

Kamal Adwan Hospital Under Siege

The Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya remains under siege, exacerbating the healthcare crisis in Gaza. Israeli forces shelled the facility, damaging electricity and oxygen supplies critical for urgent surgeries. Hospital Director Hussam Abu Safia stated that the situation is dire, with 112 patients, including six in intensive care, receiving treatment amid the chaos.

“Access to operating rooms is impossible without restoring electricity and oxygen,” Abu Safia noted. Medical staff and patients have also sustained injuries from the shelling, which involved approximately 100 tank shells and bombs.

Israeli forces, stationed just 500 meters from the hospital, have reportedly established sniper positions targeting any movement inside the facility. A heavy presence of drones and quadcopters monitoring the area, adding to the tense atmosphere.

Accusations and Counterclaims

Israel justifies its strikes by claiming Hamas uses civilian buildings, including hospitals, for military purposes. However, Hamas denies these allegations, accusing Israel of indiscriminate attacks on non-combatants.

On Friday, Israeli forces stormed the Kamal Adwan Hospital under heavy artillery fire, killing 30 people, according to the hospital’s director of nursing, Eid Sabbah.
