KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt to smuggle a massive haul of crystal meth, also known as ice, to Malaysia on Wednesday.

During a raid at the South Asia Pakistan Terminal, ANF officials recovered approximately 700 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in a container. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.

Drug Concealed in Calcium Carbonate Bags

According to ANF officials, the drug was being smuggled by mixing it with calcium carbonate. The ANF staff searched 854 bags of calcium carbonate inside the container and discovered the narcotics hidden in 28 of them.

Shipment Booked by Private Company

The container, destined for Kuala Lumpur, was booked by a private company based in Karachi. Authorities are now investigating the company’s involvement in the smuggling operation.

The ANF’s timely action prevented a major drug smuggling attempt, highlighting the ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in the region.
