ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Wednesday for a day-long visit. During his time in the port city, he will attend several important meetings and inaugurate significant projects. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Kamran Tessori warmly received the Prime Minister upon his arrival.

The Prime Minister’s schedule includes a visit to the South Asia Pakistan Terminal (SAPT) at the Karachi Port Trust. This terminal plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s trade and maritime activities. The visit aims to highlight the importance of Karachi’s port and its contribution to the country’s economy.

FBR’s Faceless Customs System Launch

One of the key events of the visit is the inauguration of the Federal Bureau of Revenue’s (FBR) Faceless Customs Assessment System. This new system is designed to bring transparency and efficiency to the customs clearance process. By removing physical interaction, the system is expected to reduce corruption and streamline operations at the port.

The FBR’s Faceless Customs Assessment System will enable customs officers to assess and clear goods without direct contact with traders. This digital initiative will improve the clearance time, which is vital for Pakistan’s trade competitiveness. The move aligns with the government’s push for modernization and better governance in public institutions.
