The death toll in Gaza surpasses 46,000, marking a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. Daily life for Gaza’s residents remains an unending struggle for survival amid relentless bombings and destruction.
For the past 15 months, the people of Gaza have endured extreme hardships. They wake up and sleep to the sounds of airstrikes and bombardments. Most residents have lost their homes, businesses, and possessions. They now live in makeshift shelters and open-air encampments with no access to basic necessities.
Locals fear the long-term impact of the ongoing war. Many believe the trauma and devastation will leave scars on future generations.
Hamas Open to Technocrats-Led Governance in Gaza
Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk has indicated that the group is open to forming a committee of technocrats to govern Gaza post-war. The idea, reportedly proposed by Egypt, seeks agreement from various Palestinian factions.

Speaking to local media, Abu Marzouk said the proposed committee should include honest and national figures. However, he claimed the Fatah movement has blocked the proposal.
“The committee must not include corrupt individuals,” Abu Marzouk stated, as reported by Quds News Network. The governance of Gaza remains a critical issue in ongoing ceasefire negotiations mediated by Egypt.
National Unity Agreement Faces Challenges
Last year, Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Fatah, signed a national unity agreement. The deal aimed to establish an interim national reconciliation government to oversee Gaza’s administration after the war.
Despite the agreement, differences between Hamas and Fatah continue to hinder progress. Analysts believe resolving Gaza’s governance issue will be essential for any lasting peace.
As the war rages on, the people of Gaza face mounting hardships, while political disputes further complicate the path toward stability and recovery.
