The International Kashmir Peace Forum France hosted a significant event in Paris to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event saw strong participation from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities. It was organized to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and raise awareness of their ongoing struggle.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Quran and a Na’at. Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, the president of the International Kashmir Peace Forum France, along with Tahir Mahmood, the general secretary, and other speakers, highlighted the 77-year-long fight of the Kashmiri people against illegal occupation. The speakers also expressed full support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination and called for global attention to the ongoing human rights violations in the region.

Sindh Government Announces Public Holiday

In Pakistan, the Sindh government has declared a public holiday on February 5 to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. The provincial government issued a notification on Friday, directing that all public and private institutions remain closed, except for those providing essential services.

A key feature of the observance will be a one-minute silence at 8:00 PM on February 5. This moment will honor the martyrs of Kashmir and show political and moral support for their fight for self-determination.

National Observance Across Pakistan

The federal government had already issued a holiday calendar for the year, which included February 5 as a national public holiday. Therefore, all government and semi-government offices, as well as banks, will be closed across the country.

In addition to government offices, educational institutions and markets across Pakistan will also shut down. This collective effort is part of Pakistan’s annual observance to demonstrate its continued support for the Kashmir cause.

International Solidarity

Both the event in Paris and the national observance in Pakistan underscore the strong international and domestic support for Kashmir’s struggle. The international community continues to call for an end to human rights violations in Kashmir and for the region’s right to self-determination.

The participation in these events highlights the importance of raising global awareness about the Kashmir issue. The day is not just about remembering the struggle of the Kashmiri people, but also about mobilizing support for their cause. The strong participation from both local communities in Paris and across Pakistan shows that the Kashmir Solidarity Day has become a symbol of unity and support for the Kashmiri people worldwide.
