LONDON: Pakistani actress Meera faced a 10-year entry ban to the UK. Immigration authorities imposed the ban after a miscommunication during an English language interview.

Meera, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, has worked in Lollywood and modeling. She faced visa issues when she failed to understand questions from an immigration officer at Heathrow Airport. Officials restricted her movements and denied her entry.

Her mother, Shafqat Zahra Bukhari, blamed the situation on a misunderstanding. Meera mistakenly referred to “transaction” instead of “transit” when asked about her travel details. She also failed to provide her mother’s full name when questioned.

Another Visa Application Rejected

After the 10-year ban ended, Meera’s travel agent applied for a UK visit visa. However, the application contained false information, leading to another rejection. Documents reveal UK authorities refused her entry due to “false representation.”

Meera confirmed she would apply again, ensuring accurate details this time. She has now hired a new lawyer to handle her case.

Family Appeals for UK Visa

Meera’s mother has urged UK authorities to grant her a visa. She stated that Meera’s family, including her younger sister and solicitor sister, live in London. Meera also owns a house in the city, purchased years ago with the expectation of living there.

“My family is in London. Meera is a global star. She travels worldwide for work. Several film projects in the UK depend on her presence,” said Zahra.

Film Projects on Hold

Meera is reportedly working on a film with actor Shaan, which requires her to be in London for shooting. Investors and businessmen in the UK have also shown interest in financing her projects.

“She should be given a visa to continue her film and drama career,” Zahra pleaded.

Meera’s Improved English Skills

Ten years ago, Meera struggled with English. However, she has lived in the US for a decade and now speaks fluently. Her mother believes this should improve her chances of getting a UK visa.

Meera’s Influence and Public Image

Zahra described Meera as an intelligent and media-savvy personality. She acknowledged that Meera enjoys staying in the limelight and understands how to remain relevant.

“Meera is the breadwinner of the family. She takes care of all of us. She is kind-hearted and always respects me,” she said.

Meera continues to fight for her UK visa, hoping to return for work and family.
