Pakistan has reshuffled its Playing XI for the upcoming tri-nation series match against South Africa. Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain replaces the injured Haris Rauf, while Saud Shakeel steps in for middle-order batter Kamran Ghulam. The team aims to recover after a disappointing defeat against New Zealand in the tournament opener.
Haris Rauf Sidelined Due to Injury
Haris Rauf, one of Pakistan’s premier pacers, sustained a muscular sprain in his lower chest wall during the match against New Zealand. After undergoing MRI and X-ray scans, medical experts advised him to rest. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed his exclusion, prioritizing his recovery for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
With Rauf out, Pakistan has turned to Mohammad Hasnain to strengthen their pace attack. Hasnain, known for his express speed and sharp bouncers, will be crucial in countering South Africa’s batting lineup. Meanwhile, Saud Shakeel brings stability to the middle order, replacing Kamran Ghulam.

Pakistan Seeks Redemption After New Zealand Defeat
Pakistan will step onto the field against South Africa determined to bounce back after a tough loss against New Zealand. In the opening match, New Zealand dominated with both bat and ball.
Batting first, Glenn Phillips led the charge with a spectacular unbeaten century, while Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell contributed solid half-centuries. New Zealand posted a formidable 330/6 in their 50 overs at Gaddafi Stadium.
In response, Pakistan’s chase started positively, with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam building a 52-run opening stand. However, after Fakhar’s dismissal, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure. Despite Fakhar’s fighting innings, Pakistan was bowled out for 252 in 47.5 overs, falling short by 78 runs.
Squad Adjustments for Stronger Performance
With South Africa up next, Pakistan hopes that Mohammad Hasnain’s raw pace will bring firepower to the bowling attack, while Saud Shakeel’s consistency will provide stability to the middle order. The team remains focused on regaining momentum in the tri-nation series.
