Apple has reportedly delayed the launch of its new iPhone SE, originally scheduled for this week, by a week. The company aims to introduce its latest entry-level device to attract new customers, especially those who do not already own an iPhone. Apple is also preparing to announce the Apple Vision Pro and an M4 MacBook Air in the coming weeks.

Launch Timeline Shift

Apple initially planned to unveil the new iPhone SE via its website without hosting a press event, a typical approach for lower-profile product launches. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the timeline has shifted slightly. While the SE announcement is delayed, a smaller product announcement may still occur this week.

New Features and Design Updates

The new iPhone SE is expected to undergo significant upgrades. Apple will reportedly debut its first in-house cellular modem, replacing Qualcomm’s hardware. Additionally, the new SE model—codenamed V59—will introduce Face ID for the first time, eliminating the physical home button.

Apple is also likely to equip the device with its A18 chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16. This upgrade is expected to enhance performance and support Apple’s latest AI software, Apple Intelligence.

A Shift in Market Strategy

Apple’s move to revamp the SE lineup comes as the company aims to strengthen its position in competitive markets such as China and India. In these regions, budget-friendly smartphones with premium features are gaining popularity. A more advanced but affordable iPhone SE could help Apple capture a larger share of these markets.

The update is also timely given Apple’s recent report of a 1% decline in iPhone sales during the holiday quarter. By offering an improved entry-level model, Apple could better compete with Android manufacturers and boost its sales in key markets.

Competitive Pricing

The current iPhone SE is priced at $429 in the US, much lower than the $799 starting price for the iPhone 16. This strategy is aimed at attracting budget-conscious consumers who still seek quality and performance.

Broader Product Announcements

In addition to the iPhone SE launch, Apple is preparing announcements for other products. The company is expected to unveil its Apple Vision Pro and a new MacBook Air with the M4 chip in the coming weeks. These announcements indicate Apple’s continued focus on innovation across its entire product line.

With the upcoming iPhone SE launch and other product releases, Apple aims to stay competitive in both premium and budget smartphone markets. These updates could play a critical role in Apple’s efforts to capture new customers and regain sales momentum in the coming months.
