Former Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar has denied reports of a police raid on his residence. The allegations surfaced in connection with the Mustafa Amir murder case, which has reportedly exposed a drug trafficking network involving influential figures.
Police Allegedly Searching for Akhtar’s Son
Media reports claim that police are searching for Taimoor Wasim, Akhtar’s son. The investigation followed revelations made by drug dealer Sahir Hasan, who is currently in prison. Hasan allegedly named several people involved in narcotics smuggling.
Speaking to a private news channel, Akhtar refuted the allegations and said his son has been living in the United States for the past four years. He called the claims political propaganda spread by his rivals.
Taimoor Wasim’s Past Legal Troubles
In 2020, a case was registered against Taimoor Wasim and others for allegedly assaulting a young man in Karachi’s Defence area. Authorities stated that on New Year’s Eve, the victim tried to stop Taimoor and his associates from aerial firing. This led to an altercation and assault.

After consulting Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, police officials decided to take strict action. Authorities have vowed no immunity for those involved in drug trafficking.
