A Peoples Bus Service crew in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed fell victim to a brazen robbery as armed men looted Rs1.15 million at gunpoint. The attack occurred late at night at the bus service’s last stop, where staff members were resting.
According to driver Sher Jan, six robbers arrived in a vehicle. While two stayed inside, four entered the premises, with one wearing a mask. The assailants forced the crew into a bus, where the cashier and transport officer were seated. Holding them at gunpoint, they demanded cash and also seized the security guard’s weapon and mobile phone before escaping.
Investigation Underway
The robbers fled with a large sum of cash, raising serious concerns about security at public transport hubs. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP Malir) confirmed that an investigation is in progress.
“We have collected evidence from the scene, and a case has been registered. The suspects will be tracked down soon,” he assured.

Transport Workers Demand Security
The incident has alarmed transport workers, who are now demanding better security measures at bus terminals, especially during late hours. Many fear that lack of proper surveillance at key stops makes them easy targets for criminals.
Authorities are now under pressure to enhance security at public transport stations across Karachi to prevent similar attacks.
Another Robbery in Landhi
Just last week, a similar robbery occurred in Karachi’s Landhi area, where armed men targeted citizens buying milk for Sehri.
CCTV footage showed three robbers storming a milk shop, threatening customers at gunpoint and looting mobile phones, cash, and other valuables. Despite several people present, the criminals executed their plan without facing any resistance.
The footage, which has since gone viral, captured clear images of the suspects’ faces. Police are now using this evidence to track down the culprits. Victims have been asked to file formal complaints at the police station.
Rise in Crime Sparks Concern
These back-to-back incidents highlight the rising crime rate in Karachi, especially during the holy month of Ramazan. Criminals appear to be targeting vulnerable areas, taking advantage of low security and late-night activity.
Residents and transport workers are urging authorities to increase police presence, install CCTV cameras, and implement strict security measures to protect public spaces.
With law enforcement now investigating both cases, Karachiites hope for swift action against the perpetrators.
