Bilawal Calls for National Unity to Combat Terrorism

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged the federal government to unite all political parties in a national effort against terrorism. He stressed the need for inclusive dialogue, warning that growing political divisions are making it harder to address security threats in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Call for an Inclusive Security Dialogue

Speaking at Governor House Lahore, Bilawal urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reconvene the recent national security meeting and include all political stakeholders, even if it means delaying the session by a month. He emphasized the need to build a national consensus on counterterrorism and ensure that all parties, including those who boycotted the last meeting, are part of the discussion.

The previous in-camera security session was attended by the prime minister, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and DG ISI Lt Gen Asim Malik. However, the opposition alliance Tehreek Tahaffuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) refused to participate, citing the absence of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan.

Addressing Political and Security Challenges

Bilawal expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions that have seen a sharp rise in terrorist attacks. He criticized political infighting, urging leaders to prioritize national security over personal rivalries.

He also called on opposition parties to set aside political differences and work together for the country’s stability and economic recovery. According to him, political discord is hampering efforts to fight terrorism and address Pakistan’s pressing security challenges.

PPP’s Stance on Government and Opposition

Clarifying his party’s position, Bilawal stated that the PPP is neither part of the government nor the opposition. However, he affirmed that the party remains committed to facilitating dialogue and supporting initiatives that benefit the nation.

He reiterated the PPP’s strong stance against terrorism and vowed that his party would continue advocating for a united national front against security threats.

A Step Towards Stability

Bilawal’s appeal highlights the urgent need for political reconciliation and joint efforts to combat terrorism. As Pakistan faces increasing security risks, building national unity and ensuring all voices are heard in security discussions will be crucial for long-term stability.
