A late-night road rage incident in Karachi’s Isa Nagar area took a dramatic turn when a woman opened fire following a minor collision. The woman, identified as Alesha Amir, fired shots into the air after a truck sideswiped her luxury car, sparking panic and prompting immediate police action.

Road Rage Turns Violent

The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. on Friday night. A truck driven by Zafar Iqbal allegedly grazed Amir’s car. Furious, Alesha exited her vehicle and brandished a 9mm pistol. She fired multiple shots into the air, causing chaos and fear among bystanders.

The startled truck driver quickly ran toward nearby police officers for protection. Officers on the scene responded without delay, detaining both Amir and Iqbal. The situation, which began as a minor accident, escalated due to the woman’s aggressive response.

Gun License Found Expired

Police soon discovered that Alesha Amir’s firearm license had expired. Though she initially presented her license to officers, authorities confirmed it was no longer valid. This led to additional legal complications beyond the reckless firing.

A case was registered against both drivers in a single First Information Report (FIR). The FIR includes charges under Section 337 of the Pakistan Penal Code for endangering public safety. Alesha also faces further charges under arms laws due to the expired license.

Legal Action and Court Proceedings

Following the arrest, Alesha was taken to the women’s police station, while Zafar Iqbal was brought to PIB police station. Both vehicles were impounded as part of the investigation.

They were later produced before the court, which ordered their remand in custody while the investigation continues. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to determine the full sequence of events.

Public Safety Concerns

The incident has reignited debates about public safety and firearm control in urban areas. Firing a weapon in a populated neighborhood, even into the air, can pose serious risks. Police officials stressed that no one was injured during the shooting, but the panic it caused highlights the dangers of impulsive behavior during traffic disputes.

Furthermore, this event sheds light on a broader issue facing Karachi — the unregulated movement of heavy vehicles like trucks and dumpers. Welfare groups report that more than 150 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents in the first two months of 2025, many involving large vehicles.

Growing Frustration Over Traffic Safety

Residents in Karachi have long raised concerns about poorly regulated traffic, inadequate road safety enforcement, and the frequent presence of untrained drivers operating large trucks. These factors contribute to rising accident rates and growing public frustration.

This road rage case not only emphasizes the need for stricter firearm regulations but also highlights the urgent demand for improved traffic management, especially involving heavy vehicles navigating through densely populated neighborhoods
