New Military Leadership in Iran
In swift response, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed new commanders. Mohammad Pakpour replaced Salami as IRGC chief, while Abdolrahim Mousavi took over the armed forces. Major General Ali Shademani was named head of the Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters.
Israel’s Operation Rising Lion
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced “Operation Rising Lion” aimed at neutralizing Iran’s military threat. Israel said it destroyed radar systems, missile launchers, and command posts. Reports also confirmed covert Mossad operations inside Iran and the presence of Israeli drone bases near Tehran.
Casualties and Damage Mount
Iranian emergency officials reported widespread injuries across 12 provinces. Explosions struck key facilities, including Natanz. State media confirmed damage to IRGC headquarters in Tehran and the deaths of multiple nuclear scientists.
