Pakistan is likely to see some relief from the ongoing extreme temperatures as pre-monsoon rains are expected to hit several regions starting this weekend. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread dust storms, rainfall, and thunderstorms, offering a break from the persistent heatwave.
Eastern Sindh First to See Rain
According to the PMD, a pre-monsoon system will begin affecting the eastern parts of Sindh by Saturday evening. Areas like Tharparkar and Umerkot will likely receive scattered rain and gusty winds.
Widespread Impact Across Sindh
By Sunday, the weather system will expand to include more districts. Rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are forecast for Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Mithi, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Thatta, Karachi, and Hyderabad.

Upper Regions Also in Line for Rain
In addition, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are entering the northern parts of the country. A westerly wave is expected to arrive by June 13, enhancing the chances of rain in several upper areas.
From June 13 to 16, dust storms, rainfall, and isolated hailstorms are likely in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Central and Upper Punjab to Receive Showers
Cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, along with other parts of upper and central Punjab, are expected to receive rainfall. Parts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel, will also see rain activity.
Southern Punjab Not Left Out
The southern belt of Punjab will experience dust storms and thunder-rain during this period. The Met Office has urged residents in affected areas to stay alert for strong winds and potential local flooding.
