Karachi Prepares for New Rain Spell as Monsoon Winds Return

The Karachi rain forecast has taken a fresh turn as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts more rain across Sindh, including the port city. After a short-lived wet spell last week, Karachi has returned to hot and humid conditions, but relief may be on the way soon.

Monsoon Winds Enter Sindh

According to PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazeer, monsoon currents have begun sweeping into southeastern Sindh. As a result, several areas including Tharparkar, Mithi, Nagarparkar, and nearby regions are expected to receive rain from July 2 to July 5. This initial phase of the monsoon may bring isolated showers to rural districts.

Light Rain Expected in Karachi

For Karachi, the outlook remains mostly cloudy with high humidity. Light rain or drizzle is likely between July 2 and July 5, offering temporary relief from rising temperatures. While these showers may not be widespread, they could provide brief cooling during otherwise sticky conditions.

Moderate Showers Likely Next Week

The PMD also forecasts moderate rainfall in Karachi between July 8 and July 11. This second wave of rain may be more significant, depending on how the monsoon system evolves. Authorities are closely monitoring developments and may issue further alerts.

Heat Returns After Brief Respite

The last rain spell, which ended on Sunday, helped cool the city briefly. However, temperatures have surged again, accompanied by uncomfortable humidity. This weather pattern is typical of Karachi’s early monsoon phase, where short spells are followed by heat until the monsoon fully sets in.

Public Advisory Issued

Residents are advised to stay updated through official PMD channels. Those in low-lying or flood-prone areas should take precautions, as waterlogging and traffic disruptions are common during even moderate rainfall in Karachi.

What to Expect

As monsoon activity gradually builds, Karachi may see more consistent rainfall in the coming weeks. Until then, citizens can expect alternating days of heat, humidity, and scattered showers as the season progresses.
