In a key diplomatic move, Pak-US defence cooperation saw a significant boost as Pakistan’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, concluded a strategic visit to the United States. The trip strengthened military ties and opened new avenues for bilateral collaboration in security, technology, and training.

High-Level Meetings at the Pentagon

During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu met with top US defence officials at the Pentagon. His discussions with Secretary of the Air Force (International Affairs) Kelli L. Seybolt and US Air Force Chief of Staff General David W. Allvin focused on joint military exercises, interoperability, and technology sharing. Both sides agreed to expand training programs and maintain regular military-to-military engagements.

Focus on Regional Stability and Counterterrorism

At the US State Department, the Air Chief held meetings with Brown L. Stanley of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs and Eric Meyer from the Bureau of South & Central Asian Affairs. He emphasized Pakistan’s critical role in regional peace, its ongoing counterterrorism efforts, and its strategic perspective on South and Central Asian security dynamics.

Engagements on Capitol Hill

The Air Chief also visited Capitol Hill, where he met with US lawmakers including Mike Turner, Rich McCormick, and Bill Huizenga. These meetings provided a platform to discuss Pakistan’s stance on regional challenges, emerging defence technologies, and long-term strategic frameworks. He underlined Pakistan’s contributions to the global war on terror and its commitment to peace.

Strengthening Institutional Collaboration

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to future engagements. Plans include expanded joint training, increased operational exercises, and enhanced military exchange programs. The visit reinforced Pakistan’s image as a responsible and peace-seeking nation adapting to evolving regional realities.

This high-level exchange laid a strong foundation for renewed trust, deeper institutional collaboration, and continued dialogue between the Pakistan Air Force and the United States Air Force.
