The healthcare crisis in Gaza continues to worsen as Israel maintains its blockade, now barring the entry of baby milk into the besieged strip. Marwan al-Hams, director of field hospitals in Gaza, told Al Jazeera that medical facilities are on the verge of collapse due to extreme fuel shortages and lack of supplies.
“We are operating with minimal resources,” al-Hams said. “It is extremely difficult to manage the large number of people killed and wounded.”

The ongoing war and siege have crippled Gaza’s healthcare system, leaving hospitals unable to function properly. Fuel needed to power medical equipment and keep critical units running is nearly exhausted. Patients, including infants and those in intensive care, face life-threatening conditions as power cuts grow longer and more frequent.
Baby Milk Ban Raises Alarms
Al-Hams confirmed that Israel continues to block the entry of baby milk, intensifying the humanitarian crisis. With Gaza under siege for months, parents are struggling to feed their infants, and aid organizations are warning of an impending malnutrition crisis.
The denial of baby milk is viewed by many rights groups as a deliberate form of collective punishment. Humanitarian agencies have repeatedly called for unrestricted access to basic life-saving goods, but the blockade remains in place.
“The occupation still prevents the entry of baby milk,” al-Hams said, emphasizing the suffering of the youngest and most vulnerable in Gaza.
With no clear resolution in sight and critical supplies running out, medical professionals and aid groups are urging immediate international intervention to prevent further loss of innocent lives in the strip.
