The ongoing monsoon rains have turned deadly in parts of Pakistan, as four people — including two women — lost their lives due to rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). With more rain forecast across the country, authorities have issued warnings urging the public to take extra precautions.
Tragedy in Kahuta
In Kahuta, relentless rainfall caused the roof of a house to collapse. The tragic incident killed a child and injured four others. Rescue teams responded swiftly, managing to save four people from the rubble. However, the child succumbed to injuries before help could arrive.
Forecast Warns of More Rain
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), wet weather is expected to continue today and tomorrow. Islamabad, Punjab, and KP will likely experience widespread rainfall. Scattered showers are also predicted in Balochistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galiyat.

Strong winds, slippery roads, and poor visibility are expected to accompany the showers, increasing the risk of road accidents and structural damage. Authorities are monitoring areas prone to landslides and flash floods.
High Alert in Vulnerable Areas
Emergency services in KP and other provinces remain on high alert. Rescue units have been stationed in flood-sensitive zones, particularly near rivers, nullahs, and low-lying areas.
People living in structurally weak homes or near water bodies have been advised to relocate temporarily if needed. Municipal bodies are also working to clear drainage systems and manage water flow in urban centers to prevent urban flooding.
Public Urged to Stay Cautious
Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors during peak rainfall hours. Special caution is advised for those commuting in hilly areas or regions with poor infrastructure.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also activated its emergency response teams and is coordinating with provincial departments to handle any worsening of the situation.
As the monsoon season intensifies, both local governments and the public are urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety.
