In response to the deadly blast, Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, strongly criticized the government’s participation in peace talks. In a statement shared on Telegram, he called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “immediately return the delegation” negotiating with Hamas in Qatar.
“There is no need to negotiate with those who murder our fighters,” he said. “They should be crushed to the bone, starved to death, and not suffocated with humanitarian aid that gives them oxygen.”
Ben-Gvir’s comments reflect growing tensions within Israel’s right-wing political circles, many of whom oppose any concessions to Hamas.
Israeli soldiers Killed in Beit Hanoon
At least five Israeli soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb attack in Beit Hanoon, northern Gaza, on Sunday evening. The explosion struck a military convoy in an area that has seen heavy fighting in recent weeks. The Israeli army confirmed the casualties but did not immediately release the names of the fallen troops.
The attack came amid a tense moment in the ongoing war, as Israel continues its military operations across the Gaza Strip while indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas are underway in Doha.
Far-Right Minister Pushes for Gaza Siege
Ben-Gvir renewed his call for a complete siege of Gaza. He also pushed for the displacement of Palestinians and the resettlement of Israeli citizens in the area. He said these steps were “the keys to complete victory.” He rejected what he called a “reckless deal” that might release Palestinian prisoners and force Israeli troops to withdraw from captured territory.
His proposals sparked sharp criticism from international human rights groups. They also ignited debate within Israel. Critics warned the measures would violate international law and worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Ceasefire Talks Continue Despite Pressure
Despite Ben-Gvir’s comments, indirect talks between Israel and Hamas are ongoing in Doha. Qatari and Egyptian mediators are pushing for a long-term ceasefire. The talks aim to stop the fighting, free hostages, and open more routes for humanitarian aid.
