A monsoon alert has been issued across Pakistan as heavy rainfall is expected to hit various regions over the next two days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned that intense downpours may trigger floods, landslides, and widespread disruptions, especially in vulnerable areas.
Rain to Intensify Across Country
According to the PMD’s weather update, rain with wind and thunderstorms is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Islamabad through July 10. Isolated areas in Kashmir, Potohar, and northeastern Balochistan could see particularly heavy rainfall.

Casualties and Emergency Measures
At least 19 people have died in rain-related incidents in Balochistan, KP, and the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the past two days. In response, the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a nationwide flood warning.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to stay on high alert to manage emergencies and coordinate relief.
Flash Flood and Landslide Risk
The advisory warned of potential flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Peshawar. Hill stations and mountainous districts—like Murree, Galliyat, Swat, and Azad Kashmir—may face landslides and blocked roads.
Specific danger zones include Mansehra, Chitral, Kohistan, Dir, Mardan, and Swabi in KP; Dera Ghazi Khan and Murree in Punjab; and Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Sibi, and Lasbela in Balochistan.
