GAZA CITY – Israeli forces have intensified attacks across the Gaza Strip. They have targeted residential neighborhoods and refugee camps, killing at least 98 Palestinians since dawn on Saturday, medical sources said.
Among the dead are 38 aid seekers. More victims are feared buried under rubble. Rescue teams are working urgently in several bombed areas. The Gaza Health Ministry and civil defence units are overwhelmed by the rising humanitarian toll as air raids continue to hit densely populated zones.
Jabalia Hit Again as Airstrikes Kill 15, Dozens Missing
Israeli warplanes bombed two residential buildings in Jabalia, a northern Gaza town. The area has already received multiple forced evacuation orders from the Israeli army. The attack occurred during the afternoon, targeting apartment complexes where civilians had taken shelter.
Medical teams on-site confirmed that 15 people were killed, and at least 20 others remain missing. Neighbors and civil defence volunteers joined emergency crews in frantic efforts to locate survivors under the rubble.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “apocalyptic,” with bloodied children, broken furniture, and collapsed concrete visible from nearby rooftops. “We heard the screams from the debris,” said a local resident helping in the rescue. “We don’t have the tools, just our hands and hope.”
The buildings had been home to displaced families from other parts of northern Gaza, raising concerns that civilian shelters are increasingly becoming military targets.
Seven Killed in Al-Shati Refugee Camp; Children Among the Victims
Just minutes after the Jabalia airstrikes, the Israeli military launched another assault on the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City. The densely populated camp houses thousands of displaced families and has been previously targeted.
According to Gaza’s emergency response units, seven people were killed, including children, and several more were injured in the strike. Al Jazeera reported seeing disturbing footage of children covered in blood and ash, some being carried in the arms of relatives while others lay motionless on the ground.
Al-Shati is one of the oldest and most overcrowded camps in Gaza. “There is nowhere safe,” said one camp resident. “We fled from Beit Hanoun to Shati camp weeks ago. Now they are bombing us here.”
As ambulances rushed to the site, residents scrambled to clear debris and tend to the wounded. Hospitals in the area are operating beyond capacity, and medical staff say shortages of medicine, fuel, and blood supplies are making emergency care nearly impossible.
Palestinian Factions Claim Counterattacks
The Gaza death toll has risen to 98 killed today alone, according to updates from medical sources. Casualties are scattered across central, northern, and southern parts of the Strip, as Israeli operations intensify.
Meanwhile, the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), claimed responsibility for detonating a pre-planted explosive device targeting an Israeli Merkava tank in the Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.
Israeli military statements confirmed “operations” in Gaza but did not directly address the Jabalia or Shati attacks. They claimed to be targeting “militant infrastructure and command centers,” although images from the ground show flattened homes and charred residential blocks.
Residents fear further strikes in the coming hours, especially as humanitarian corridors remain closed and aid operations are collapsing.
International organizations have urged a ceasefire, but negotiations appear to have stalled. In the meantime, the people of Gaza are caught in the middle of a conflict that continues to kill civilians daily, with no sign of reprieve.
