Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have arrived in Lahore to finalize plans for the upcoming PTI protest movement against the government. The gathering follows the suspension of 26 PTI Punjab Assembly members after a protest during Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s budget speech on June 27.
Focus on Strategy and Solidarity
Top PTI aides from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions traveled to Lahore to show support for the suspended lawmakers and discuss the party’s next steps.
Speaking to reporters in Jhelum, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said this was the party’s first strategic session. “We aim to take this movement forward until August 5,” he stated, without sharing further details.
Senior PTI member Gohar Khan confirmed that the Punjab government was formally informed about the gathering. “This is not a rally. We are heading to Lahore for internal discussions,” he clarified.

Context Behind the Movement
The top court upheld the earlier Peshawar High Court ruling, stating that PTI was ineligible for reserved seats after losing its electoral symbol before the February 2024 polls.
Past and Present Tensions
Authorities, however, have accused the party of inciting violence during earlier protests in May 2023 and November 2024.
