Widespread rain across Lahore and several Pakistani cities has led to significant power outages, flooded roads, and disruption of daily life. The continuous rainfall, expected to last until July 17, has submerged low-lying areas and affected vital infrastructure in both urban and rural regions.
Lahore Sees Relief and Disruption
In Lahore, light to heavy rain brought down humidity and cooled the weather. The minimum temperature stood at 27°C, with a high of 33°C expected. While the rainfall gave temporary relief from the heat, it also triggered outages as many electricity feeders tripped, leaving several neighborhoods without power.
Flooding in Southern Punjab
Dera Ghazi Khan, Kamalia, and Kohlu witnessed torrential rain. In D.G. Khan and Taunsa, rainwater entered homes and shops. Over 20 villages in Taunsa’s eastern belt were submerged, forcing families to move to safer areas. In Kamalia, the rain affected critical locations, including the courts, Iqbal Bazaar, and the Assistant Commissioner’s office. Roads became impassable, and sewage overflow near Mamu Kanjan Road worsened the situation.

Rain Impacts Other Punjab Cities

However, in many places, local authorities struggled to manage the situation, with residents expressing reluctance to evacuate despite rising floodwaters.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan
The Met Office forecasted partly cloudy skies in Peshawar but warned of rain in districts such as Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Chitral. Flash floods and landslides are expected in mountainous regions like Battagram, Shangla, and Mansehra. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and move to higher ground if necessary.
