Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar strongly condemned the recent Israeli and US attacks on Iran, calling them “unacceptable” while stressing the importance of regional cooperation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Tianjin, China.
Pakistan Denounces Aggression
Speaking at the forum, Dar criticized what he termed “unjustified and illegitimate aggression” against Iran, a fellow SCO member. He said, “Such illegal actions directed against SCO member states are unacceptable.” Dar also highlighted the rising use of force as a foreign policy tool and urged peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and international law.
Commitment to Multilateralism
Following the session, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for multilateralism in a post on X. “We reaffirmed our shared commitment to mutual respect, dialogue, and regional stability. The Shanghai Spirit continues to guide us toward a more inclusive global order,” he wrote.

Meeting with Xi Jinping
Earlier, Dar met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. He conveyed greetings from Pakistan’s leadership and expressed the country’s commitment to strengthening its “iron-clad” relationship with China. Xi emphasized the importance of regional unity under the SCO framework.
Arrival and Participation
Dar arrived in Beijing on Monday and was received by Chinese and Pakistani officials. He later joined other SCO foreign ministers in Tianjin for the formal session. Top diplomats from India, Russia, Iran, and Central Asia also attended the event.
Bilateral Talks with Member States
On the sidelines, Dar held several meetings with foreign ministers from Iran, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. He discussed ways to boost cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, and defence. With his Iranian counterpart, he reviewed the fallout from recent Israeli attacks and emphasized the need for unity.
The Foreign Office noted that Dar’s visit includes more bilateral engagements aimed at deepening regional ties within the SCO’s evolving geopolitical landscape.
