Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called the contribution of overseas Pakistanis “unforgettable” in building Pakistan’s future. During a meeting in Lahore on Saturday, she emphasized that expatriates play a vital role in national progress and that her government is committed to addressing their issues. The meeting, which included MNA Naseer Ahmed Abbas and PML-N Japan President Malik Noor Awan, also focused on ongoing development projects and public welfare schemes.

Recognizing Expatriates’ Role

Speaking at the meeting, CM Maryam highlighted the significance of Pakistanis living abroad. She noted that their remittances, investments, and continued support have been central to the country’s economy.

“Our overseas citizens are our pride,” she said. “They stand with Pakistan in every difficult time, and their sacrifices are deeply valued.”

She added that the government is actively working on policies to better serve overseas communities and resolve their concerns efficiently.

Government’s Development Vision

Maryam Nawaz reiterated the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s commitment to public service. She stated that every region of Punjab is receiving attention, with development projects underway across rural and urban areas.

“Our goal is to ensure that no citizen is left behind, whether they live in the heart of Lahore or a remote village,” she said. “We are using all available resources to improve the quality of life for everyone.”

She mentioned that over 12,000 kilometers of roads in Punjab have either been built or rehabilitated, ensuring better connectivity and economic growth. This, she said, reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure as a key driver of progress.

Model Village Project Expands

The chief minister gave a detailed briefing on the Model Village Project, an initiative aimed at improving living standards in rural communities. Under this program, villages are being equipped with modern amenities, clean water, and better sanitation.

“Our Model Village Project is turning neglected rural areas into self-reliant, sustainable communities,” Maryam said. “These villages are examples of how thoughtful planning can lead to real transformation.”

She stressed that providing quality facilities in rural regions is just as important as investing in urban centers. “This is inclusive development, and that’s what our politics is all about.”

Healthcare at the Doorstep

Another area the CM focused on was mobile healthcare. She shared that more than 10 million people have received treatment through field hospitals and Clinics on Wheels programs across Punjab.

“These mobile units are reaching those who never had access to even basic healthcare before,” she explained. “This is not just treatment; it’s dignity and relief for the poor.”

The mobile clinics operate in remote and underserved areas, offering free check-ups, diagnostics, and medicines. According to Maryam, these initiatives have drastically reduced the burden on public hospitals while improving community health outcomes.

Serving the Needs of Overseas Pakistanis

Maryam Nawaz assured attendees that her government is taking practical steps to solve the problems of overseas Pakistanis. She acknowledged that these citizens often face bureaucratic hurdles, property disputes, and legal delays.

“To support those who support Pakistan from thousands of miles away is our duty,” she said. “We’re committed to fast-tracking their issues.”

She also appreciated the role of community leaders like Malik Noor Awan for keeping the concerns of expatriates on the government’s radar.

Efforts are underway to digitize property records, set up dedicated overseas complaint cells, and streamline consular services in embassies abroad. Maryam said these steps will build trust and strengthen ties between the government and Pakistanis living abroad.

A Future Built Together

The meeting ended on a note of unity and resolve. CM Maryam reiterated that national development is a shared mission and that overseas Pakistanis are crucial partners in this journey.

She urged continued collaboration and promised that her government will remain accessible and accountable. “Together, with the spirit of service and the strength of our people at home and abroad, we will build a stronger, more inclusive Punjab.”
