Bangladesh scripted history in the Bangladesh vs Pakistan T20I clash by clinching their first-ever T20I series victory against Pakistan. A spirited bowling performance and a composed half-century from Jaker Ali helped the hosts seal an eight-run win in the second match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. With this result, Bangladesh claimed the series 2-0, ending years of heartbreak against Pakistan in the shortest format.

Strong Bowling Start Sets the Tone

Bangladesh’s pace attack dominated early. Shoriful Islam, who replaced Taskin Ahmed, grabbed attention immediately. He trapped Mohammad Haris for a golden duck and then removed the dangerous Fakhar Zaman. Tanzim Hasan Sakib backed him up with two key wickets in the fifth over, sending both Hasans—Mohammad and Nawaz—back to the pavilion in consecutive balls.

Pakistan found themselves reeling at 15 for 5, their worst-ever start in a T20I after five wickets. The top six failed to reach double digits, exposing the fragility in their batting order.

Ashraf Fights Alone

At 47 for 7, Pakistan looked headed for a humiliating defeat. But Faheem Ashraf had other plans. He counter-attacked, launching Mahedi Hasan for a six over long-on before smashing Rishad Hossain for two sixes and a four in a 20-run over.

Ashraf added 41 runs with Abbas Afridi for the ninth wicket. He brought up his maiden T20I fifty in style with a towering six over long-on. However, his resistance ended the very next ball as he fell to a low delivery from Rishad.

Despite needing just 13 off the final over, debutant Ahmed Daniyal was caught at deep midwicket by Shamim Hossain. Mustafizur Rahman held his nerve and sealed the victory for Bangladesh.

Jaker Ali Steers Bangladesh to Defendable Total

Earlier, Bangladesh had a shaky start. They were 28 for 4 inside seven overs as Pakistan’s young pace duo of Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal caused early trouble. Litton Das fell early, while Towhid Hridoy was run out. Daniyal then removed both Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamim Hossain.

Amid the collapse, Jaker Ali stood tall. He waited patiently before launching his attack. His first six landed deep into the stands at backward square leg, signaling his intent. He stitched a 53-run partnership with Mahedi Hasan, who made 33 off 25 balls with two sixes.

After Mahedi’s dismissal, Jaker turned aggressive. He smashed two sixes over midwicket and another straight down the ground to complete his fifty. His 55 off 34 balls gave Bangladesh a fighting total of 133, which proved just enough.

Rookie Bowlers Impress for Pakistan

Despite the loss, Pakistan found positives in their new talent. Ashraf not only top-scored but also gave Pakistan their first breakthrough by dismissing Soumya Sarkar. Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal bowled with control and pace. Mirza removed Litton Das, while Daniyal took key middle-order wickets. His dismissals of Shamim and Emon slowed Bangladesh’s momentum at a crucial time.

Final Moments of Drama

The final overs brought high tension. With Ashraf in full flow and Daniyal offering support, Pakistan inched closer. A dropped catch by Tanzim in the 17th over gave Bangladesh a scare. But Shoriful, Mustafizur, and the fielders remained composed under pressure. Shamim Hossain’s catch on the boundary in the final over sealed the deal.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit—led by Shoriful’s 3 for 17 and Tanzim’s crucial strikes—played a defining role. The win marked a major milestone in Bangladesh cricket and a rare series defeat for Pakistan in T20Is.

A Turning Point for Bangladesh Cricket

This victory is more than just a series win. It symbolizes Bangladesh’s growing confidence and balance in the shortest format. Beating Pakistan, especially after early batting setbacks, highlights the team’s depth, discipline, and self-belief heading into future tournaments.
