Pakistan has named a fresh Pakistan squad for their upcoming Caribbean tour, with wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan set to captain the national side in a three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The tour includes both ODIs and T20Is, offering Pakistan an opportunity to test emerging talent and refine its combinations ahead of future international competitions.
Rizwan Takes Charge for ODIs
The Men’s National Selection Committee announced the 16-member ODI squad on Friday, confirming Rizwan as the captain. The three One-Day Internationals will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad & Tobago on August 8, 10, and 12.
Rizwan’s appointment comes at a time when the team is searching for stable leadership and consistent performances in the 50-over format. Experienced names such as Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi are also part of the ODI squad, bringing both firepower and balance.
Young Talent in the Mix
Hasan Nawaz, a right-handed batter, is the only uncapped player in the ODI squad. His selection reflects Pakistan’s focus on grooming fresh faces for the international stage. The squad blends experience and youth, aiming for competitive edge and long-term depth.
The ODI squad also features key all-rounders like Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz, with explosive batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub in the lineup. Naseem Shah returns to boost the fast-bowling attack, while Abrar Ahmed strengthens the spin department.
