In a strong endorsement of the Pakistani diaspora, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar praised their pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan-US relations. Addressing a gathering of leading Pakistani-Americans in New York, Dar acknowledged their continued efforts in improving Pakistan’s global image and acting as a bridge between the two nations.

Building Diplomatic Bridges

Dar highlighted the importance of overseas Pakistanis as strategic partners in advancing Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic interests. He credited them for their solidarity during recent tensions with India and their vocal support for the Kashmiri cause. According to him, the diaspora has not only served as Pakistan’s voice abroad but also as its moral and political support system.

Economic Recovery in Focus

Turning attention to the domestic front, Dar informed the audience about Pakistan’s steady economic recovery. He pointed out that the country has successfully concluded its International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. Inflation has significantly dropped, and investor confidence is on the rise, he said.

He also noted that global credit rating agencies have acknowledged Pakistan’s improved macroeconomic indicators. These signs, according to Dar, reflect a promising trajectory for Pakistan’s economy. He reiterated the government’s vision to elevate Pakistan into the ranks of G-20 economies.

Reintegration into Global Diplomacy

Dar emphasized that Pakistan had emerged from a period of diplomatic isolation and was now engaging actively at the international level. He pointed to a series of recent high-level visits and multilateral initiatives that underscore Pakistan’s renewed diplomatic energy.

He proudly mentioned Pakistan’s current presidency and two-year non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council. This achievement, supported by 182 countries, he said, reflects the global community’s trust in Pakistan’s foreign policy and principled diplomacy.

Peace and Regional Connectivity

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, especially in long-standing issues like Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. He called for these disputes to be resolved according to United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He also discussed Pakistan’s outreach efforts toward Afghanistan. Emphasizing regional connectivity, Dar said Pakistan envisions expanded rail and trade corridors linking Central Asia with South Asia. He acknowledged recent assurances from Afghan authorities that Afghan soil will not be used for terrorism.

Defending Sovereignty with Resolve

Referring to a significant military engagement, Dar recounted Pakistan’s firm response during “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” in which the country’s forces downed six Indian aircraft. He praised the unity shown by the Pakistani nation and the diaspora during that tense period, framing it as a moment of national strength and resilience.

Reviving PIA and Global Connectivity

Dar also addressed issues close to the diaspora’s heart. He assured them that the government is working toward the swift resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights, particularly those connecting to Europe and the United Kingdom. He said these efforts include aligning Pakistan’s aviation operations with international compliance standards.

Encouraging Investment and Innovation

Outlining the government’s developmental agenda, Dar highlighted the Special Investment Facilitation Council, an initiative aimed at simplifying investment processes and encouraging economic activity in key sectors. He urged Pakistani-Americans to actively participate in Pakistan’s development, especially in areas like trade, education, and digital innovation.

Partnership for National Progress

The Deputy Prime Minister ended his address by inviting the diaspora to become more engaged. He emphasized that their ideas, investments, and networks can contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s growth. According to Dar, the government views the Pakistani diaspora not just as expatriates, but as vital stakeholders in national progress and diplomacy.

The gathering concluded on a positive note, with Dar reaffirming the government’s intention to strengthen Pak-US ties through continuous engagement with overseas Pakistanis
