Thar Foundation CSR Awards 2026 has brought national recognition to community development initiatives in Thar, highlighting how corporate-led social investment can transform underserved regions of Pakistan.
At the 15th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Summit and Awards 2026, Thar Foundation received three prestigious awards in the categories of Community Impact, Social Impact, and Women Empowerment. The recognition reflects the foundation’s consistent efforts to uplift communities in Thar through education, healthcare, clean water, and economic empowerment initiatives.

Thar Foundation CSR Awards 2026 Reflect Sustainable Development Goals
Speaking at the ceremony, General Manager Farhan Ansari stated that this achievement reflects the foundation’s integrated development model aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Working alongside Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company, Thar Foundation has ensured that benefits of the Thar energy project directly reach local communities. Their initiatives span across education, vocational training, healthcare, biodiversity protection, and women empowerment.
Education Initiatives Driving Change in Thar
Under its education programs, Thar Foundation has established 33 school units, providing quality education and digital literacy to more than 4,500 students, with nearly 40% female enrollment.
These schools achieved 100% pass rate in Federal Board matriculation examinations last year a major milestone for the region.
In addition, more than 2,000 youth have been trained in market-driven skills such as welding, solar installation, IT, tailoring, and dressmaking.
The Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) in Mithi currently enrolls over 300 students, including women for the first time, offering diplomas in mining, electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering. Around 100 students were also sent to China for specialized training in power plant operations and maintenance.
Healthcare Services Expanding Across Thar
Healthcare remains a core focus of the Thar Foundation CSR Awards 2026 achievements. Seven medical facilities established by the foundation have provided free medical services to over 450,000 people.
These services include:
- Medical consultations
- Ultrasound facilities
- Laboratory testing
- Maternal and child healthcare
- Free medicines
To further strengthen maternal healthcare, the Islamkot medical facility is being expanded into a 50-bed hospital, addressing one of the region’s most critical health challenges.
Clean Water and Solar Energy Projects
Access to safe drinking water has improved significantly with 33 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants supplying over 12 million liters of clean water monthly to approximately 34,000 residents. Notably, 15 plants are operated by local women, promoting both sustainability and empowerment.
Under the Village Electrification Project, more than 3,750 homes now receive uninterrupted solar energy. The initiative also includes:
- 235 solar street lights
- Around 500 pit latrines
- Complete solarization of Block II
These measures have improved daily life, safety, and hygiene across the region.
Women Empowerment at the Heart of Thar Foundation CSR Awards 2026
Women empowerment remains one of the most impactful pillars of Thar Foundation’s work.
Through the Women Dumper Truck Driver Program, 64 women have been trained and employed, breaking traditional barriers and promoting financial independence.
Additional achievements include:
- Training of 320 women as lady health workers and midwives
- Employment of 274 women as teachers and school principals
- Nearly 110 grants supporting women-led businesses and low-income families
These initiatives have helped reshape social norms while boosting household incomes.
