In a powerful gesture of humanitarian aid, Pakistan has dispatched a fresh consignment of 100 tonnes of emergency relief to Gaza. The move comes under special instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and highlights Pakistan’s firm support for Palestinians enduring the deepening humanitarian crisis.

Flight Departs with Urgent Supplies

A special relief flight took off from Islamabad International Airport on Monday morning, carrying essential supplies. The consignment included 65 tonnes of canned food, 20 tonnes of dry and infant milk, 5 tonnes of biscuits, and 10 tonnes of medicines. This latest shipment marks Pakistan’s 17th humanitarian dispatch to Gaza since the war escalated in October 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar oversaw the operation, emphasizing the urgency and scale of the relief effort. The flight underscores Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to stand by the Palestinian people during their time of need.

NDMA Leads Swift Coordination

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) played a crucial role in coordinating the timely delivery of the supplies. NDMA worked efficiently with local and international partners to ensure the goods reached Gaza without delay.

Since October, Pakistan has sent a total of 1,615 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to Gaza. These include food, medical aid, and ready-to-eat meals aimed at helping civilians, especially women and children, affected by relentless violence.

Dar Calls for Global Response

In his remarks, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed the need to protect civilians and allow uninterrupted humanitarian access to the war-ravaged region.

He also urged the international community to renew support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which plays a critical role in supporting millions of Palestinian refugees. Without urgent financial and logistical backing, agencies like UNRWA risk failing to meet growing needs.

Push for a Just Political Solution

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, in line with international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions. He noted that Pakistan actively supports diplomatic efforts in global forums including the UN Security Council, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ensure accountability for Israeli actions in Gaza.

He stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through political solutions that restore Palestinian dignity and sovereignty.

Death Toll from Starvation and Attacks Rises

Meanwhile, the humanitarian toll in Gaza continues to grow. On Sunday, the Gaza Health Ministry reported six more deaths from starvation and malnutrition. This brings the total number of starvation-related deaths to 175, including 93 children.

In parallel, Israeli strikes killed at least 92 Palestinians in a single day. Among the dead were 56 individuals seeking aid. The strikes hit areas including Rafah and Netzarim in northern Gaza.

West Bank Raids and Rising Violence

In the occupied West Bank, violence escalated further as Israeli forces intensified raids in Hebron. According to local sources, Israeli soldiers fired live bullets, tear gas, and sound grenades in central Hebron. A young Palestinian man was shot in the thigh and hospitalized.

Such raids have become more frequent, adding pressure to the already dire humanitarian and security situation across Palestinian territories.

Red Cross Mourns Loss of Staff

Tragedy also struck the humanitarian community. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed the death of staff member Omar Mansour Isleem during an Israeli attack on a Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) building in Khan Younis. Two other aid workers were injured.

The ICRC condemned the attack, stating that first responders like Omar risk their lives daily to help others and must never be targeted. “It is an outrage that so many humanitarian workers have been killed or injured in the last 21 months of the conflict,” the organization said.

Pakistan Stands in Solidarity

Pakistan’s latest aid shipment symbolizes more than logistical support—it is a firm statement of solidarity. As Gaza reels from a worsening crisis, Pakistan vows to continue its relief efforts and diplomatic advocacy for peace and justice.

The government has affirmed it will keep working with the global community to push for an end to the violence and ensure the rights of Palestinians are upheld through meaningful international action.
